Ammarah Hussain is currently a student at Adler University, pursuing a clinical mental health counseling degree. She enjoys working with children, adolescents and adults. She is open in working with any clinical concerns including but not limited to mood and anxiety disorders, adjustment disorders, grief and loss, low self-esteem, multiculturalism, identity concerns, stress management. One of her underlying beliefs is that individuals possess the knowledge within themselves, in order to find the solutions to live a rich and meaningful life. Ultimately, she believes that individuals have the resiliency and solutions within themselves to tackle life on life’s terms.
Her theoretical interests include but not limited to existential, humanistic, Adlerian, cognitive behavioral, narrative therapy, multiculturalism, solution focused and many other approaches to meet individuals where they are at. Further, she enjoys utilizing positive psychology; one of her philosophies includes increasing mental wellness, and mental health in general. That it is not enough to decrease the symptoms in order to live a rich, meaningful life. She is further interested in utilizing creative arts and will work with individuals to creatively figure out solutions to their given concerns. She is collaborative to see what individuals need to meet their goals. In her free time, she enjoys writing and reading as a pastime along with photography!
Her approach include combining cognitive behavioral therapy, client focused therapy, and solution focused therapy. She can work to help articulate ones thoughts and feelings or to help formulate goals
Her ideal client is someone who is having difficulty connecting perception with reality and has a pattern of relationship issues due to anxiety and depression.
